Donate Plasma in Portland (The Ultimate 2018 Guide)

Why do some people go week after week to donate plasma in Portland? It’s simple: they’re saving lives and earning extra cash while getting to relax and read books or watch movies (if you’re the type that can relax with a needle dangling from your arm, that is). Donating plasma is widely regarded as safe and there are several federal regulations in place to ensure a clean, sterile environment.

What are the requirements for donating plasma?

It varies for each facility, but typically you’ll find the following requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • There’s normally an age cutoff somewhere between 64-69 years old
  • Weigh at least 110 pounds
  • No new piercings, tattoos, or permanent makeup in the previous 12 months
  • Free of viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis (they will screen for these)
  • A valid form of ID
  • Proof of residency
  • Proof of a social security number

How long does it take?

Your first visit can take up to three hours since they have to give you an examination, do a bunch of paperwork, etc. After that, it generally takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

How often can I donate?

You can donate twice a week and must wait at least 2 days between each donation. This is an FDA requirement that you will find at all donation centers.

What is the compensation if I donate plasma in Portland?

If you donate plasma twice a week, you can expect to earn about $200-$300 a month.
